What, Exactly, is the World of Hycia?

I decided to illustrate out a rough concept of what the planet of Hycia looks like. The reason I wanted to do this, outside of the obvious, was to be able to shed some light on the unique inspiration behind this project and how it connects to our own universe.

As a little bonus, here’s a rendition of planet Hycia without any cloud coverage. If you look closely towards the left side, you can see the Kingdom Channel crossing through the Kelp Belt. Yes, that’s right, that dark area which appears to be a land mass is actually a tremendous collection of undersea kelp! It rises up and towards the surface, creating a blanket of mountainous vegetation that comprises the entire River Kingdom. The rest of the planet (the blue, open sea) is all considered a part of the Ocean Kingdom.
